Gold for Elliott in Mid Sussex

Well done Elliott Lucas who together with partner David Jolliffe won the U16 boys doubles at the Mid Sussex Junior Badminton tournament in Haywards Heath today.

The boys crushed their opponents 21-7 in the final to claim the winners trophy.

Meanwhile Will Pieckielon reached the semis of the boys singles and Elliott the quarters.

Medals at Wycombe U19 Bronze

FastStep Elite player Jake Davidson fought off the top seeds to reach the final of the Wycombe U19 Bronze on Saturday.

Jake and partner Peter Beech were defeated in the final but picked up a well earned silver medal.

In the mixed doubles FastStep’s Monica Carr-Pacquay finished in 3rd place, adding a bronze to her growing medal collection. Well done both.

Team success for FastStep in Surrey

FastStep U14 team
FastStep U18 team

FastStep Badminton Academy enjoyed a successful day at the first round of the Surrey Plus Junior Badminton League.

The U14 team were undefeated on the day, dropping only 2 rubbers across their 4 matches against other clubs from Surrey and Middlesex and ending the day joint top of the table.

Later in the day the U18 team played brilliantly to win their first 4 matches before meeting tournament favourites Swifts A. Amy Radford clinched the girls singles in 3, then Will Pieckielon took the boys singles to 3 and despite having a match point was narrowly defeated. Casey Coats and Elliott Lucas got off to a strong start in the mixed, but lost out in the third game.

Our U18 boys couldn’t match the strong Swifts pair in the doubles, but our girls fought brilliantly to a nail biting finish and secured the game, leaving FastStep defeated 3-2, but with the contest still wide open for the next round in April.

Tournament trophy for Thomas

Well done to FastStep Smashers player Thomas Broom for winning a trophy at the Mid Sussex Junior Badminton Tournament at the weekend.

Thomas played really well to claim runner up spot in the U10 boys doubles plate event.

Successful weekend for FastStep players

There were several reasons to cheer on FastStep players this weekend as the 2017 badminton calendar got underway.

In Gillingham on Saturday, Amy Radford and Casey Coats picked up a bronze medal at the Kent U18 Silver.

On Sunday two of our players made their season debuts for Sussex county team. Luke Peel played for the U14s against Herts and Monica Carr-Pacquay played for the U18s vs Berks. And both Sussex teams won! Well done guys.

Success for Monica and Amy

Congratulations to FastStep Elite players Monica Carr-Pacquay and Amy Radford for winning a silver medal in the girls doubles at the Herts U18 Bronze in December.

Amy also picked up bronze in the mixed doubles and Luke Davies reached the semis of the boys doubles to earn a bronze too.

Mid Sussex Junior Badminton Tournament 2017

You can now enter the 2017 Mid Sussex Junior Badminton Tournament, to be held in Haywards Heath in the new year.

In its 19th year, it’s a great local tournament for young players who aren’t in a county squad or playing the Badminton England circuit.

Please check the age groups carefully as they are different to the current Badminton England age groups.
