News of a successful end to Daniel Hatton’s junior career helping Sussex U17s to 5th position in the Shires League final.
In the Final, each of the top 4 counties have to play 1 of the next 4 counties and we were drawn against Surrey 1. Daniel’s mixed was a surprise win at 21-19 against an exceptionally strong Surrey pair and the rest of the team fought hard with some very close results.
Unfortunately losing to Surrey meant we were then playing for positions 5 to 8 and next up was Cheshire which we won 14-6, Daniel winning both his mixed and singles. This meant we were now playing for 5th or 6th position so onto our final match against Staffordshire.
It had been a long season and an exhausting day for this team and some players were very tired! However, they all pulled together for one last effort and won convincingly 14-6 (Daniel winning his mixed and singles again), taking the 5th spot in the Country! A well-deserved place and a fabulous end to the season and Daniel’s Junior Career.
