FastStep Badminton Summer Camp
We’ve just released details of our pre-season training camp in August, which is open to both FastStep members and guests.
It’s aimed at junior players looking to sharpen up for the new season ahead of matches and tournaments and features some exciting guest coaches.
Medal for Ben in Tunbridge Wells open
Congratulations to FastStep’s Ben Smith for getting the runners up medal in the U13 boys doubles at the Tunbridge Wells Badminton League junior open today.
A great effort and a nice medal to show for it!
FastStep Summer Sundays – matchplay sessions
During July and August we’re holding some casual matchplay sessions for Elite/Stars level players on Sundays as an extra to the mid-week coaching sessions.
The sessions will be at the Dolphin or Triangle on Sundays depending on court availability. Duration and number of courts will depend on popularity, but we’ll aim for 2 courts for 2 hours to start with.
So here’s how it works
1. follow us on Facebook to find details of the next session
2. come along and bring other strong players (young or old) with you if you like
3. pay £2 (approx) to cover court and shuttles
4. play badminton!
A few notes…
- There isn’t any coaching at these sessions – just time to put that coaching into practise!
- FastStep members are welcome to bring guests of a good standard to these sessions
- Players under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (who can either play or watch).

Elite
from Thursday 11th September 2014 to Thursday 18th December 2014 (except 30th Oct – half term)
Stars and Smashers
from Friday 5th September 2014 to Friday 19th December 2014 (except 31st Oct – half term)
Payment for the first Autumn half term will be due by the end of July (£70 Elite, £60 Stars, £40 Smashers)

Successful start for Smashers and Stars

Well done Amy at Kent U14
Well done to Amy Radford on some hard fought games against tough opposition at the Kent U14 Open this weekend. So tough that Amy actually lost a tooth on court!! A great way to spook your opponents!
Amy and partner Casey Coats took experienced pair Vidhi Garg and Lily Stent into setting in the first game, narrowly losing 21-23, then losing to 15 in the second. Their tough box also included number 1 seeds Lydia Ip and Gemma Atkins from Surrey but again the girls put in a good performance.
There was victory for Amy and Casey in their other game against a Kent pair, 21-8, 22-20 placing them third in the box.
Overall a great experience for sure.
30 members in just 3 months!
We’re thrilled to report that we’ve just welcomed our 30th member into the new FastStep Badminton Academy, just 3 months after we launched!
It’s brilliant to see the interest across all three of our groups, from youngsters looking to start playing badminton through to the more experienced players seeking improvement.
