FastStep out in force at East London U15

FastStep girls were out in force at the East London U15 Bronze on Saturday, with Amy Radford, Casey Coats, Eva Craig and Monica Carr-Pacquay all making the trip.

evachanumi_silver_elondonThere were wins for all the girls during the day, with Eva reaching the final of the girls doubles with partner Chanumi Gamage and taking home a silver medal. Great experience was gained by all the girls, well done.

On Sunday, the other side of the Thames, our U13 county players were tackling Kent in a tough encounter where 10 of the 20 matches went to 3! Sussex lost 16-4, but Ben Smith and Dhanush Thiagaraj managed a win in the boys doubles and Isabelle Craig won her singles and one of her doubles.

Meanwhile back north of the river, Daniel Hatton helped Sussex U17s to a 17-3 victory over Essex with a win in his singles and mixed.

FastStep Y9s beat Burgess Hill

Well done to our year 9 team who beat Burgess Hill Juniors 6-0 in the Mid Sussex Junior League this week. Well played Dhanush, David, Harry and Thomas.

Daniel bags a pair of bronzes in Suffolk

Congratulations to Daniel Hatton for reaching the semi-final stage of both the singles and doubles at the Suffolk U17 Bronze in Ipswich this weekend.

Daniel missed a place in both finals by just 2 points, settling for a pair of well deserved bronze medals.

Finals for Jack at Brighton 3 Series

jack_3seriesWell done FastStep Elite player Jack Thomson who reached the final of the men’s doubles at the Brighton 3 Series tournament this weekend.

Jack and partner Dave Askey won a tough semi against Chris Jones and James Clark to set up a final against Jonty Russ and Daryl Todd. In a close final Jack and Dave were just edged into runners up spot 21-19.

A belated well done to another Elite player, Vitu, who won the U16 boys singles at the Mid Sussex Tournament last weekend.

FastStep Y9s win against Lewes

Congratulations to our Year 9 team in the Mid Sussex Junior Badminton league for a hard fought 4-2 victory against Lewes last night.

Some excellent performances from a young team, two of whom are only in year 6! Well done to Ben, Amy, Thomas and Stephen. And thanks to Lewes for battling through snow to reach us!

FastStep Performance launches at K2 Crawley

We’re excited to announce the launch of FastStep Performance, a new training squad within FastStep Badminton Academy for national badminton circuit players.

FastStep Performance is a highly-focussed weekly training cell aimed at preparing players for competition on the national junior or senior badminton circuit. It will include a mix of ages, but all players will share a common goal to succeed.

Players are also expected to attend one of FastStep’s other weekly squads or a credible alternative. FastStep Performance will be lead by Academy head coach Zeyar Win.

FastStep Performance runs every Tuesday from 7pm-9pm, starting on Tuesday 24th February 2015, at K2, Crawley, home to this year’s English National Badminton Championships.

Operated by long-term FastStep partner Freedom Leisure, K2 provides a superb base for the squad with excellent road access and facilities.

Gold for Daniel at Essex U17

daniel_gold_essex2015FastStep Elite player Daniel Hatton picked up Gold in the boys doubles at the Essex U17 Bronze today ending a brilliant weekend for FastStep players.

After convincingly winning their box, Daniel and partner Jonathan Kuribayashi-Coleman got through the semis into the finals where they emerged 21-13 winners against Sussex pair Jake Davidson and Kevin Jude.

Daniel’s victory tops a great weekend for FastStep players with success at Kent U13 Bronze and the Mid Sussex Junior Tournament. Well done all of you, great to see your hard work paying off.

There were plenty of trophies for FastStep players after a successful showing at the Mid Sussex Junior Badminton tournament.

In the boys U14 singles Sam Hoodless played superbly to win the title, beating fellow FastStep players David Jolliffe in the quarters and Elliot Lucas in the semis.

Then in the U14 doubles it was David and Elliot who picked up the top prize, beating Sam and partner James Yexley on the way. Meanwhile in the boys U12 doubles young Will Bevan did brilliantly to secure the runners up spot.
