FastStep will run its annual Summer Camp for national-circuit level juniors from 30 August – 1 September 2016. Full details and how to apply

You can now enter the Sussex Rising Stars 2016 junior badminton tournament, which will take place at the Triangle Leisure Centre on Saturday 30th April 2016.

The tournament is open to U10/U12/U14/U16 age groups. There are restrictions for stronger players – please check the entry form carefully.

Worthing Juniors are organising a badminton tournament at Worthing Leisure Centre on 19th June. It’s for anyone in the u11/u13/u15 age groups who lives in Sussex (County players should check restrictions). See the entry form on our tournaments page for full details.

Entry is now open for the Crawley Junior Badminton Tournament 2016 at K2 Crawley on Saturday 19th March 2016.

The tournament is open to all players, who will play in age groups according their school year: Year 5/6, year 7/8, year 9/10 and year 11/12.

There will be boys singles, boys doubles, girls singles and girls doubles.

We’d like all our players to enter the Mid Sussex Junior Badminton Tournament to be held at the Dolphin, Haywards Heath in the new year.

County team squad players are not able to enter, neither can players who have entered more than 2 Badminton England tournaments over the last year.

• U12s (birth year 2004 or later)

Sunday 31st January 2016

• U14s (birth year 2002 or later)

Sunday 7th February 2016

• U16s (birth year 2000 or later)

All our players are encouraged to enter this autumn’s Sussex County Junior Badminton championships.

U15/U17 age groups compete on Sunday 20th September 2015 at Portslade Sports Centre. Download entry form here.

There is singles and doubles in all events. If you need help finding a doubles partner, ask your FastStep coach.

The Badminton England junior tournament schedule for the upcoming 2015/16 badminton season has been published.

Of note to local players is the inclusion of a Sussex U17 Bronze at the Dolphin LC in October.

There’s no easy to read list of the tournaments this year on the BE site, so you’ll need to use the search facility at be.tournamentsoftware.com, eg search “U17 Bronze”.

Trials for Sussex County Junior Badminton for the 2015-2016 season will be held on Saturday 27th June at Portslade Sports Centre, Chalkey Rd, Portslade.

Timings are

13:00-14:30  U13 – Born on or after 1 January 2003

15:00-16:30 U15 – Born on or after 1 January 2001

17:00-18:30 U17 – Born on or after 1 January 1999

Note, there is no U11 Sussex squad for the 2015/2016 season. A series of development sessions will be held instead, starting with a free session from 12:00-13:00 at Portslade Sports Centre on Saturday 27th June.

Thanks to everyone who came along to our final session of the year and took part in our Christmas tournament – there were some great games and a lot of fun was had.

Enjoy the Christmas break, you deserve a few days off! But don’t forget we’re mid season and there are tournaments and matches in January.

We’re back in 2015 at Crawley on the 11th January and in Haywards Heath on 15th & 16th January. Please make payment before 31st December to secure your place.

Entry is now open for the 17th Mid Sussex Junior Badminton Tournament, to be held in Haywards Heath in January and February 2015.

County squad players are excluded from all categories except the U10 County Squad tournament (there is a U10 novice also).

There are U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 categories, with singles and doubles in all. If you’re not in the county squad and are looking to play a local tournament this is a good one – please ask at your next FastStep session if you’re unsure.
