Fixtures Set (Posted 16/09/08)

Fixtures for the year is now set for this year. 

We have again signed up to Crawley and District Badminton Association Juniors League.  With our first year in the league last year, we came mid table and I hope that we can improve that position this year.  It will not however be a walkover.  As all the other players improving and new teams in the league, we have new challenges to meet.  We need to train well and play well as a team.

The format of the matches is as follow. 

Boys: 1 x Doubles
Girls: 1 x Doubles
Mixed: 4 x Doubles

Mixed (Each pair play against their opposite pair in the same rank. Then, swap over and play against the other pair, i.e. 1 v 1, 1 v 2)

We play best out of 3 games to each game as normal to 21 points with settings.ease keep these dates free if you are interested in playing in the league.

Discussion Board and Skills Video Clips (Posted: 31/07/08)

Hi all, I have created a group on the Facebook for our use. You will need to request to join and I will need to allow you to join.  We can view the skills video clips, ask questions and chat about badminton.  You will need to obey the following rules plus any rules seen on Facebook.

1) You need to be over 13 years of age and will need to have permission from your parents.
2) If you are 18+, please not that there are under 18s using the site and please watch your language. 
3) You will be blocked from the page if you misbehave after warning.

More players around 10 is needed

Since aA new section of the club is opened, there has been great attendance in the older 13+ age group.  It is great to see you all trying hard to improve your game.  I do need more players at the lower age group with plenty of spaces left.  I would like to create very good ladies team in the future.  So, if you know of any girls who would like to start playing, just let me know.  We need players from 6+ of age.

New Junior Badminton Club in Crawley coming soon

To cater for increasing demand, there will soon be new junior badminton clubs in Crawley.  Keep visiting here to find out more.  The club will be for the younger badminton players and they will be progressed up the graded sessions accordingly as they improve.

In connection with this, to enable website users to obtain information, a new website www.crawleyjuniorbadminton.co.uk is launched recently.  It shows that we are here for the junior badminton players in Crawley.  Users are currently still encouraged to use FastStep website.

Can FastStep Team be as successful as Felbridge Juniors?

FastStep team is doing pretty well in the Crawley Junior league.  Looking at the table below one could wonder if the team be as good as one of the  Division 1 teams Felbridge.  These two teams as some of you will know share one common thing.  The head coach for both teams is the same person as FastStep as a business also coach for other clubs.  Well done to both Felbridge and FastStep Team for having done so well this year.  We look forward to having both teams in the same division competing for the same spot in the near future.

In coming seasons as other teams and players joining the league and there may well be even more high standard play.  One thing for certain is that future will give us greater, higher competition for all the clubs in all the leagues all thanks to all the coaches and players in all the clubs putting in so much effort to improve their game and their teams.Crawley Junior Tournament and Kent TWBL Spring Junior Restricted Tournament (Posted 04/02/09)

The club T-shirts looking good
All the club T shirts looks good on you and it is good to see you guys wearing them proudly.

Additionally, you can also get a proper Badminton Polos, quick dry plus material, similar material to a football jersey at an additional cost of £20.  All printed with our club "FastStep Badminton Academy" name.  You can order this in ladies fit as well.  See the pictures below.  Sizes from XXXS to XL for both mens and ladies.  I would recommend ordering one size up from normal to fit well for Ladies Fit.

Junior League Results
as at 10/02/08

The result is very promising to finish 3rd position this season with one more match in hand in couple of weeks time.  If we can win this one, it is pretty much guranteed at least 3rd position.  We can then start to look at doing better for next season.  Well done team!

A few tournaments and matches have already been played this season and I would like to say well done and congratulations to all our players for your dedications, determinations and efforts.  Some of you still need to work on your attitudes on court and more effort is needed to fulfill your potentials.  Let the success of our team mates boost all our energy.  A special well done goes out to Ella, Adele and Jonty for your successes and efforts during Sussex Restricted Championship Tournament 2007.

Local Initiatives with School Sport Partnership
This year, we have made a very successful partnership with Crawley School Sport Partnership.  Working together with the SSCO, CSLO, PLT and Schools within Crawley, we have to date, since September 07, introduced badminton to 150 year 5 and 6 children.  We have been observing very satisfying steady improvement in their hand-eye co-ordination, racket skills, movement skills and general behaviour.  More sessions are planned in the coming terms.  If you are interested and would like to get involved, contact your PLT, SSCo or Zeyar.

FastStep Badminton Academy at K2 Crawley
At the beginning to 2006 season, we opened up a new club targetted at the 14-17 years old age group.  We have since then evolved and now running as an academy with continous expansions for all age groups.  The club is based at K2 Crawley Leisure Centre and we still have some more spaces left if you are interested.  We also have a sub-base at Oriel in Maidenbower and this is designed to take in younger and beginner players then players moving onto K2.  If you do not have a racket, it is no problem.  Just come ready to take part in your Sports clothing and we can take care of the rest.  You don't have to worry about going out to buy new rackets either as we have some very good rackets going at very good prices.  Further more, you can try it out before you buy so that you know you can get on with the racket.

Junior League Matches and Tournaments
FastStep Badminton Academy is now in a local junior league providing opportunities for the better players in the academy to compete against other junior clubs.  Furthermore, there are tournaments the players can enter to challenge players even at the national level.  Please click on the top bar for more information.

Those academy players who would like to represent our club, please keep these dates free.  The league matches normally lasts about 2 hours using 2 courts.

Block Group Lessons
For total adult beginners, going into a club straight away can be a daunting thought.  To ease this, we are looking to set up group lessons for a block period of time with limited number of participants to keep the quality of experience.  Please register your interest with us by simply emailing Zeyar so that we can make this happen as soon as possible.  I have a few possibles already so you won't be the only one.  This is a great way to make new friends and gain the skills you would like at a very reasonable rate.

Want to become a coach?
If you want to become a coach, you can by completing Level 1 Assistant Coach Award and Level 2 Coach Award.  There are courses all over the country.  Locally to Horsham and Crawley, visit  www.collyers.ac.uk and type in Badminton in Course Finder.  The candidate criteria can be found on the Badminton England website above.

Demo rackets for sale
We have some demo rackets we need to clear out.  The retail prices range from approximately £30 to £130.  As they are used demos, we are selling them cheap.  Enquire for more details with what type of rackets you like.  This type of rackets would be more than suitable for beginner to improving players.  Some new old stocks also available.

Only Two More Spaces Left (Posted 02/03/10)

The Monday Evening Adult and 16 + Coached Sessions have been very popular this season. Great atmosphere with varying abilities. For this term, the maximum I am taking is 16 to ensure continuous play for everyone. There are now only two more spaces left.

The course has already started but as it is ran as informal course, you can join now.

The postponed AWAY match against Forest is now on 21st March 2010.  Starts 5.15pm at Tandridge House School, Horsham.

Match on Sunday 7th March 2010 may need to be postponed. Contact Zeyar for more.

Junior Match News (Posted 19/01/10)

The winning streak came to an end after what can be desrcibed as a loss due to poor concentration by a number of players in the team against Limpsfield who we beat very convincingly at home. There were a few changes in the opposition line ups. The scores were very close with a few come backs. We need to do better in the concentration department to start winning again.

Following is the league standings as on 1st of Jan 2010.

A few matches has been rearranged due to weather and other reasons. Albury home match is to be confirmed after snow. Forest away match is likely to be on Sunday 14th Feb or 21st March. This will be confirmed shortly.

Back to normal (Posted 19/01/10) 

After the disruptions due to weather, we are now back to normal with all the junior sessions.

The adult sessions are to resume on Mondays from February. These will be as a normal club with coaching and training inputs during the games as well as practice routines in order to ensure that technical and tactical elements are progressed. There will no longer be Wednesday sessions.
